Reynaldo Navarro to make second straight start at 2B for Orioles

(3:09 pm ET) After making his major league debut on Friday, Reynaldo Navarro is starting again for the Orioles, batting seventh and playing second base, on Saturday against the Red Sox.

Navarro went 1 for 3 with a double on Friday.

Navarro was called up after infielder Ryan Flaherty was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain.

Blue Jays' Jose Bautista to miss fourth straight start

(3:08 pm ET) Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista was held out of the starting lineup for the fourth straight game on Saturday. 

Bautista is battling a sore shoulder.

The Blue Jays shuffled their outfield for Saturday's game. Kevin Pillar, who started in right for Bautista the last three games, will play center field for the second time this year. Michael Saunders starts in right, and Dalton Pompey moves from center to left.  


Athletics' Jesse Hahn testing blister on Sunday, may start Wednesday

(2:57 pm ET) Athletics pitcher Jesse Hahn will test the finger blister on his throwing hand with a bullpen session some time in the next two days, per MLB.com. Hahn has been treating the finger by soaking it in pickle juice to harden the skin. 

Assuming the bullpen session goes well, Hahn could still make his next start, scheduled for Wednesday. 


Athletics' Brett Lawrie gets day off with sore knee

(2:42 pm ET) Athletics' third baseman Brett Lawrie is out of Saturday's starting lineup, the first game of the season he has not started at third base. 

Lawrie hit his knee on the bullpen mound during Friday's game and had soreness. He assured the team that he was able to play, but manager Bob Melvin decided to give him a rest, per CSN Bay Area

The team will reevaluate Lawrie on Sunday. 


Nats SP Max Scherzer (thumb) may throw bullpen on Sunday

(2:41 pm ET) If he feels up to it, Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer (thumb) is expected to throw a bullpen or a flat-ground session on Sunday, per MASN. 

Scherzer jammed his thumb during the sixth inning of Thursday's loss against the Cardinals and was later pulled for a pinch hitter.


Jake Elmore gets first start of season for Rays

(2:34 pm ET) Rays second baseman Jake Elmore is in the starting lineup for the first time this season. Elmore will bat eighth in the lineup. 

Regular second baseman Logan Forsythe moves to first base. It's his fourth start of the season at the position. 

The Rays are +102 money line underdogs to visiting Toronto. 


Tim Beckham replaces David DeJesus at Rays DH

(2:30 pm ET) Rays DH David DeJesus is not in the team's starting lineup for Saturday's game. In his place, Tim Beckham becomes the eighth Rays player to start at designated hitter this season. 

Beckham has five starts at second base and two at shortstop this season. He went 2 for 2 with two RBI and a home run after entering Friday's game as a pinch hitter. 

The Rays are +102 money line underdogs against visiting Toronto. 


Cards' Jaime Garcia (shoulder) throws simulated game Saturday

(2:30 pm ET) Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said pitcher Jaime Garcia (shoulder) threw 44 pitches Saturday in a simulated game and will try to increase his pitch count in his next simulated game scheduled for Thursday, according to MLB.com. 

Garcia has been out since spring training with shoulder inflammation related to surgery. 

He's been pitching to live hitters the last few weeks but Saturday was his first simulated game.


Bobby Wilson starts in place of Rene Rivera as Rays catcher

(2:26 pm ET) Rays catcher Rene Rivera is not listed in the starting lineup for Saturday's game. 

Bobby Wilson gets the start behind the plate, batting ninth in the order. It's his fifth start of the year and second in five games.

Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez to throw to live hitters on Thursday

(2:10 pm ET) Marlins starting pitcher Jose Fernandez (Tommy John surgery) is scheduled to throw 15 pitches to live hitters on Thursday, reports MLB.com.

Fernandez has been out since May 2014 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

He is expected to return to the Marlins by late June or early July.
