Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann gives up seven hits, three runs

(12:27 am ET) Brewers starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann didn't have his best stuff during his start against the Cubs on Friday.

Jungmann gave up three runs, two of them earned, on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. He struck out seven batters, but also gave up two walks while earning his third loss of the season.

Jungmann (5-3) has a 2.23 ERA with 53 strikeouts and 21 walks in 64 2/3 innings this year.


Cubs closer Hector Rondon picks up 15th save of the season

(12:24 am ET) Cubs closer Hector Rondon closed out the ninth inning of Friday's win over the Brewers and picked up his 15th save of the season in the process.

Rondon allowed one hit and struck out a batter during the outing. He now has a 1.72 ERA in 47 innings of relief this season.


White Sox's Jose Abreu extends hit streak with homer

(12:23 am ET) White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu went 1 for 2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's loss to the Yankees. 

Abreu's homer extended his hitting streak to 11 games. He's hitting .381 over the streak. He homered for the second straight game. 


Carlos Rodon rocked in loss for White Sox

(12:20 am ET) White Sox starter Carlos Rodon gave up a season-high eight runs and lost for the third time in four decisions, Friday against the Yankees. 

Rodon surrendered eight hits over three innings, the shortest start in his career. Rodon walked four, the third time in five starts he's walked at least four. He also struck out four, his lowest total since June 10. 


Nathan Eovaldi moves to 11-2 for Yankees

(12:18 am ET) Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi won his sixth straight start, Friday against the White Sox, improving to 11-2 on the year. 

Eovaldi hasn't lost since June 16. He allowed three runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings. He's gone six innings just once in the last six starts. 

Eovaldi walked three, struck out five and allowed his first home run since June 10. 


Cubs SP Jason Hammel strikes out four in win Friday

(12:15 am ET) Cubst starting pitcher Jason Hammel struck out four batters en route to his sixth win of the season on Friday against the Brewers.

Hammel allowed just one earned run on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. He did allow two walks and gave up a home run to Milwaukee slugger Ryan Braun. 

With the win, Hammel improves to 6-5 on the season with a 3.13 ERA.


Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta slugs two-run home run Friday

(12:12 am ET) With his team already up by five runs, Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta chipped in a two-run home run in the sixth inning, as the Cards topped the Rockies 7-0 on Friday.

Peralta went 2 for 4 in the game, including his 15th longball of the season. The home run broke a 12-game homer draught for the All-Star shortstop.


Giants' Madison Bumgarner has three-game win streak snapped

(12:11 am ET) Giants starter Madison Bumgarner dropped to 11-6 with a loss to Texas on Friday. 

Bumgarner had a three-start winning streak snapped. He allowed nine hits and a season-high six runs. He didn't walk a batter for the first time since June 6. 


Mets 2B Wilmer Flores gets two hits, walk-off against Nationals

(12:10 am ET) Mets second baseman Wilmer Flores went 2 for 5 with a walk-off home run and two RBI in his team's win over the Nationals on Friday.

Flores drove in both of his team's runs during a 12-inning, 2-1 victory over Washington. Flores came to bat in the bottom of the 12th and hit the game-winning home run to left center off Nationals reliever Felipe Rivero.

Over his last nine games, Flores is hitting .297 with 11 hits, a double, a home run and four RBI.


Cardinals 3B Matt Carpenter hits lead-off home run on Friday

(12:09 am ET) Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, giving the Cards an early 1-0 lead over the Rockies. Carpenter would finish the game going 2 for 4 with a double and his 13th dinger of the year.

Carpenter now has three homers in his last two games.
