Tigers' Victor Martinez 'certainly not 100 percent' but will play
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(12:18 pm ET) Tigers DH Victor Martinez is still battling knee soreness, but it shouldn't force him from the lineup.

Manager Brad Ausmus said that Martinez is "certainly not 100 percent", per the Detroit Free Press, but he doesn't anticipate sitting Martinez down against right handed pitchers in the near future.

Petricka walked two and struck out two in the sixth inning. He threw 12 strikes in 24 pitches.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said he got good reports on the appearance, per MLB.com

Padres' Justin Upton (quad) out of lineup Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:09 pm ET) Padres left fielder Justin Upton is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs due to a quad strain.

It'll be the first game this season Upton hasn't started for the Padres. He's hit .326/.373/.630 with three home runs and eight RBI in 46 at-bats. He felt better after receiving postgame treatment, MLB.com reports, and the injury doesn't appear to be serious.

With Upton sidelined, Will Venable will draw the start in left field, while catcher Derek Norris will shift to the cleanup spot after not starting Saturday.

The Padres are underdogs (+120) in Chicago Sunday.

Tigers' Justin Verlander's throwing session postponed
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

Verlander is on the 15-day disabled list with a triceps injury.

Verlander is not scheduled for an MRI, and the team said that there are no plans for any further tests on him.
