Shocker: Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo steals career-high seventh
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:23 pm ET) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo slugged his fourth home run Monday night. No big deal there. He hit 32 last season.

But Rizzo also stole his seventh base in the loss to St. Louis. Big deal. That's a career-high and we're barely into May.

What is most intriguing is that Rizzo, who has never been considered a speed demon by any stretch, has all seven stolen bases in his last 15 games.

Brewers' Scooter Gennett reinstated from DL, Logan Schafer optioned
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2:21 pm ET) Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list with a hand injury, the team announced.

Gennett was forced to go on the DL after cutting his hand while reaching for shampoo in the shower. He is hitting .207 with one RBI in 29 at-bats this season. With the reinstatement, Milwaukee needed to clear a roster spot and they did so by optioning Logan Schafer to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Schafer hit .182 with six runs scored in 33 at-bats for Milwaukee.

Cubs 2B Russell launches second home run of career on Monday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(2:19 pm ET) Cubs second baseman Addison Russell gave his team a chance to win in the bottom of the ninth on Monday against the Cardinals. With Chicago down 10-8, Russell launched a solo home run, his second of the season, to draw the Cubs to within one run. But they were unable to capitalize further and suffered the 10-9 defeat.

Russell, who also added a single on the evening, has hit safely in all but two games since getting called up on April 21. However, he is batting just .233 with seven RBI. Manager Joe Maddon knows his young stars are bound to take off sooner rather than later.

"I really believe in our kids and know they'll figure it out," Maddon said, per MLB.com. "The homers are going to come, the homers are there."

Cubs' Starlin Castro drives in run Monday vs. Cardinals
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2:17 pm ET) Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro went 1 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored in his team's 10-9 loss to the Cardinals Monday.

The RBI was the first in five games for Castro, who was hitless in seven at-bats in his previous two games. He's just 3 for 20 over the last seven days but has hit .303/.330/.374 with two home runs, 13 RBI and two stolen bases in 99 at-bats.

Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal remains on roll in Monday loss
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:12 pm ET) Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal expressed hope after slugging a homer Sunday that his slump was over.

Apparently it is.

Grandal mashed three more hits Monday night in Milwaukee, including a double. He has seven hits in his last nine at-bats as his average has skyrocketed from .179 to .262, its highest point of the season. He has an extra-base hit in each of his last three games.

Blue Jays recall Chris Colabello, option Jonathan Diaz
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2:11 pm ET) The Blue Jays have recalled utility man Chris Colabello and optioned infielder Jonathan Diaz to Triple-A Buffalo, th team announced Tuesday.

In addition, pitcher Jayson Aquino was designated for assignment. Colabello posted a .337 average with five home runs in 23 games in Triple-A this season. The 31-year-old hit .229 with six home runs in 2014 for the Twins. Diaz is 0 for 5 with one RBI this season.

Twins' OF Jordan Schafer stays hot on Monday vs. A's
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(2:09 pm ET) Twins outfielder Jordan Schafer had a perfect night on Monday against the A's, as Minnesota went on to win their fifth straight game. Schafer, who had missed a couple of games with a knee injury late last week, reached base in all five of his plate appearances Monday. He went 3 for 3 with two singles, a double, a walk and two RBI.

The red-hot Schafer is now hitting a robust .360 (9 for 25) over his last 10 games. He'll look to keep the good times rolling on Tuesday against A's starter Jesse Chavez.

Kris Bryant draws career-high four walks vs. Cardinals
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2:09 pm ET) Cubs rookie third baseman Kris Bryant went 1 for 1 with two runs and four walks in his team's 10-9 loss to the Cardinals Monday.

It was the first time during Bryant's rookie campaign that he's drawn four walks in a game, though he's been consistently picking up free passes since joining the Cubs and owns a 19:16 K:BB ratio on the season. Bryant has hit .291/.458/.382 in 55 at-bats but is still looking for his first home run of the season.

Angels SS Erick Aybar collects fourth multihit game
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(2:08 pm ET) Angels shortstop Erick Aybar collected his fourth multihit game this season Monday vs. Seattle. He had two singles and one strikeout in four at-bats.

Aybar has 21 hits in 26 games, but only two of those hits have gone for extra bases. They are both doubles.

Aybar is batting .216, but has been better offensively as of late. He is batting .265 (9 for 34) with one double and four RBI in his last eight games.

Athletics OF Billy Burns hitting well since recent call-up
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(2:01 pm ET) Athletics outfielder Billy Burns has certainly made the most of his most recent opportunity, as he has hit safely in all three games since his call-up on Saturday. In those three games, Burns is 5 for 14.

Burns got his first taste of the big leagues last season, being used mainly as a late-inning defensive replacement. He had just one hit in six at-bats in 2014.

It remains to be seen if Burns, who is filling in for the injured Coco Crisp, will remain with the team once Crisp returns. Burns had been hitting well in Triple-A Nashville this season, slashing .315/.378/.404 in 89 at-bats for the Sounds.
