| (9/23/09) Red Sox SP Paul Byrd lost for the second time in five starts Tuesday at Kansas City, allowing five runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings. He issued four walks without recording a strikeout and now has a 6.04 ERA. |

| (9/22/09) From The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Josh Beckett will have his scheduled start for Tuesday night against the Kansas City Royals pushed back to Wednesday afternoon, and RHP Paul Byrd has been slotted in to take Beckett's spot in the rotation. Sox manager Terry Francona announced on Sunday that he was going to a six-man rotation for at least this week, and the extra pitcher will allow some of his workhorses (Beckett and LHP Jon Lester) to get a little bit more rest before settling into the rotation. |

| (9/17/09) Boston SP Paul Byrd was decent for the second straight start on Wednesday against the Angels, but once again, he failed to earn a winning decision. The Red Sox rallied late but had a deficit most of the way. Byrd allowed three runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and had four strikeouts. His ERA is 5.79. |

Martinez hits slam vs. former team as Red Sox roll
Victor Martinez hit a grand slam against his former team and the Boston Red Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 11-6 on Saturday night despite a shaky outing by Josh Beckett.
