|by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com|
|(5/17/15) Twins right fielder Torii Hunter will get a break from playing the field on Sunday. Hunter is in the starting lineup at designated hitter for the fifth time this season.
Eddie Rosario replaces Hunter in right. He gets his fifth start of the year at that position.
Twins RF Torii Hunter returns to lineup Friday

|(5/15/15) The Twins were not about to give red-hot right fielder Torii Hunter more than one day off. He is back in the lineup for the Friday night clash against Tampa Bay after sitting Thursday.
Hunter could be called "Torrid Torii" in May. He is 19-for-47 with five home runs and 14 RBI in what for him has indeed been a merry, merry month.
Twins give Torii Hunter a breather against former club

|(5/14/15) Twins right fielder Torii Hunter was given a day off for just the fifth time this season Thursday afternoon against Detroit. With Hunter out, manager Paul Molitor shuffled his lineup, moving catcher Kurt Suzuki to the No. 2 hole and Eddie Rosario to right field and in the seventh spot.
"He’s been out there a lot ... lot of at bats. Just backing him off," Molitor said, per the Pioneer Press. "Made sense today."
Hunter is hitting .281/.331/.488 with six homers and 21 RBI in 31 games played.
Detroit is favored (-155) at home against Minnesota, per VegasInsider.com.
Twins' Torii Hunter slugs sixth home run Wednesday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(5/13/15) Twins right fielder Torii Hunter went 1 for 3 with two walks and a solo home run in his team's 6-2 win over the Tigers on Wednesday.
Hunter put his team up immediately, hitting a solo home run in the top of the first inning, and the Twins wouldn't look back, tacking on five runs in the third and coasting to the win. The outfielder homered in back-to-back games last week but was 0 for 6 in his previous two games. Hunter has hit .281/.331/.488 with six home run and 21 RBI in 121 at-bats.
Twins DH Kennys Vargas returns to the starting lineup on Tuesday
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(5/12/15) Twins slugger Kennys Vargas is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers. Vargas was given the day off on Sunday, though he is starting to emerge from his season-long slump at the plate.
Vargas, who will be the designated hitter and bat sixth in the order, owns a batting line of .414/.452/.621 in eight games this month. The hot streak has brought his season batting average to .247, to go along with his three home runs and 10 RBI.
Torii Hunter, who was the DH on Sunday, is back in right field on Tuesday, while youngster Eddie Rosario gets the day off.
|2014 Summary: Even in his late 30s, Torii Hunter refuses to slow down. In both of his seasons with the Tigers, Hunter hit exactly 17 home runs and drove in more than 80 runs. Defying the odds, Hunter actually improved as a contact hitter, lowering his strikeout rate for the second straight season, and with less than a strikeout for every six at-bats, he batted .286. Even though he appeared in only 142 games, Hunter finished as a top 40 outfielder. In December, Hunter returned to the Twins, with whom he played 11 seasons, on a one-year deal.|
Playing time status: The Twins will likely use Hunter much as the Tigers did, giving him occasional days off. That could especially be the case late in the season, should prospect Byron Buxton get the call and need playing time.
2015 Outlook: Inevitably, decline will have to come for Hunter, and his batting average did dip in 2014 in part due to a decline in infield hits. Should his power and contact skills erode, Hunter could fall out of the ranks of the top 40 outfielders. That possibility renders him as a late-round option in standard mixed leagues.
