Chavez continues solid spring start: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Braves RP Jesse Chavez continues to make a strong impression since coming over from Tampa in the Rafael Soriano deal. “That Chavez -- whew -- he is good,” new closer Billy Wagner said. “Just from playing catch and seeing his stuff. I’ve never seen him pitch, but Bobby (Cox) told me, ‘Man, this guy’s the real deal.’ And watching him and being in the weight room and seeing how he carries himself -- that’s important."

Cox said he was impressed by Chavez earlier this month, and now veteran Wagner is giving his seal of approval. If he can earn the setup job this spring, Chavez will certainly have some value in deeper NL-only leagues that reward holds, so keep an eye on his progress this March.
