Preseason Outlook

Getz battled injuries throughout his rookie season, limiting him to only 375 at-bats, but when healthy, he had some low-end value in Fantasy just because of his ability to steal bases. Now with the Royals following an offseason trade, he'll have to compete for at-bats all over again. In a best-case scenario (for him, anyway), he could platoon with Alberto Callaspo since Getz bats left-handed and Callaspo, who bats right-handed, thrived against lefties last season. But Callaspo is the more polished offensive player of the two, meaning the Royals will probably want him playing every day. They'll have to get more creative with Getz, perhaps even using him at several positions. He has more power than he showed last year, so he could surprise if given an opportunity, but since he'll probably have to spend much of his time on the bench, he looks like just an AL-only option going into the season.
