| Houston brings in Mock |

(8/3/12) The Astros acquired starting pitcher Garrett Mock from the Red Sox on Friday in exchange for future considerations, the Houston Chronicle reports. Mock, who is a native of Houston, will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has pitching for Boston's Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket.

The Washington Nationals optioned struggling starter Garrett Mock to Triple-A Syracuse in a surprise move and activated veteran right-hander Livan Hernandez to start Sunday against the New York Mets, his former team.

Nats make Mock No. 5 starter, dispatch Olsen to minors
Garrett Mock has won the job as the No. 5 starter for the Washington Nationals. Manager Jim Riggleman said Saturday that the right-handed Mock got the nod over lefty Scott Olsen, who was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
