Fantasy Analysis
Nunez was sent to the minors to work on his defense but this injury will likely sent him back a bit. He has proven that he can hit in the majors and has some decent speed so keep an eye on his progress down on the farm. Nunez will likely be up in the majors again at some point this season so owners in AL-only formats should continue to stash the 24-year-old away. (Updated 05/21/2012).

Eduardo Nunez enters the 2012 season without a regular position, but he has a chance to build some value in Fantasy as a super-utility player. Last year, Nunez showed his versatility, playing more than 15 games at second base, third base and shortstop, and he even appeared in a handful of games in the outfield. By filling in for regulars such as Alex Rodriguez or Derek Jeter when they are injured or serving as the designated hitter, Nunez can pile up at-bats, but even as a part-timer, he will have value in Rotisserie formats. Nunez stole 22 bases in 2011, and he could push 30 with just a little more playing time. Look to target Nunez in deeper mixed Rotisserie leagues, though in Head-to-Head formats, he is more of an AL-only option. (Updated 2/9/12)
