(5/18/13) Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was slotted atop the team's lineup with Ian Kinsler out for a second-straight day, and he responded with a 5-for-5 performance that included a double, triple, three runs, two RBI and two stolen bases.
Andrus bumped his batting average 20 points, giving him a .282/.328/.350 line with 12 stolen bases in 192 plate appearances. Despite the excellent outing, Andrus won't retain the lead-off spot in the lineup when Kinsler returns.

(5/15/13) Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus stole second and third base after reaching base on an error in the fifth inning, giving him 10 steals this season. He was 0 for 4 but scored a run after stealing the bases.
Andrus didn't reach double digits in steals last season until June 15, when he produced a career-low 21 stolen bases. He has hit .267/.313/.321 in 179 plate appearances this season.

Andrus collected three hits in the game, all singles. He also walked twice. Andrus came around to score twice, bringing his run scored total to 20. He's hitting .270/.315/.329 in 152 at-bats.

(5/8/13) Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus went 3 for 5 with a run and his seventh stolen base of the season in his team's 4-1 win over the Brewers Wednesday night. It was Andrus' sixth straight game with at least one hit and his first three-hit game since April 2.
Andrus has hit .266/.301/.331 in 149 plate appearances this season.

(5/1/13) Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus has a nine-game hitting streak after going 1 for 5 in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox. However, he also struck out three times in the loss, including with two outs and two men on in the ninth inning of a three-run deficit.
Andrus has boosted his batting average from .194 to .248 during his hitting streak, but he left six men on base Wednesday out of the second spot in the order.

Big first inning enough for Rangers to avoid A's sweep
David Murphy and Adrian Beltre homered in a three-run first inning, Ross Wolf was strong in his first major league start and the Texas Rangers avoided a sweep with a 3-1 victory against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.

| Despite losing some power and steals from 2011, last season should be considered a good one for Elvis Andrus, who made gains in doubles (27 in 2011, 31 in 2012) and batting average (.279 in 2011 to .286 in 2012). It wasn't the offensive explosion that many had hoped for after improving on his 2010 numbers the previous season, but Andrus is still just 24 and still has to hit his production peak. One minor concern was his increase in strikeouts, upping them from 74 to 96, but Andrus did make a nice leap in OPS, going from .708 to .727, which may be more indicative of the direction in which he's heading. A skilled player who is two days younger than the actor who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, Andrus could flirt with top-five-shortstop status in 2013 and should be taken in the early rounds of most drafts.
