Preseason Outlook

If Morgan didn't seem like a legitimate leadoff hitter when he played for the Pirates, he won over some believers when he went to the Nationals in June. From the moment he set foot in Washington, he played like Ichiro Suzuki, hitting .351 with 24 stolen bases in 191 at-bats. He couldn't possibly maintain that pace over a full season, but how much will he fall off? Hard to say considering he broke his left hand in late August and missed the rest of the season. He lacks a track record and doesn't walk enough for a leadoff hitter, but if nothing else, you know the Nationals will let him go crazy on the base paths. And as he showed when he grew more comfortable in his full-time role, he's capable of hitting .300. His complete lack of power makes him no more than a No. 4 outfielder in most Fantasy leagues, but his steals make him a sneaky middle-round pick in Rotisserie leagues. (Updated 1/18/10)
