Sanchez might be back in 10 days: Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen told reporters Sunday that he isn't ruling out first baseman Gaby Sanchez, who was demoted to the minors Saturday, returning when he is eligible in 10 days. However, Guillen added he isn't putting a timetable on Sanchez's time at Triple-A New Orleans. We have been talking about this for a little while, Guillen said. I think Gaby got to the point where he needs to relax a little bit. He tried to help us so much, it put him in a very tough situation. I think he was trying too hard. He was rushing. He was trying to come out of the slump in one at-bat. I think it was better for him and for us. Hopefully he gets his stuff together and gets back here. I talked to him [Saturday] night and said, We need you here. This ball club is built with you in the lineup every day. Ill be waiting for him. (Updated 05/20/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Logan Morrison is likely to see the bulk of starts at first base while Sanchez is in the minors. The Marlins are hoping this demotion will serve as a wake-up call and Sanchez's return is obviously in his hands. If he gets hot at New Orleans, then a quick return is likely. But now it's a wait-and-see process. Sanchez might be worth stashing in deep Fantasy formats while he's toiling in the minors. (Updated 05/20/2012).

05/16/2012 20:06 Gaby Sanchez is on the who's not list
Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez is on the who's not list. The Fantasy Baseball 360 crew has more.
In 2011, Gaby Sanchez was the Marlins' only All Star. In 2012, he might be the team's weak link. Granted, that wouldn't be the case if he maintained an All-Star level throughout 2011, but he slumped to a .225 batting average and .679 in the second half after hitting .293 with an .846 OPS in the first half. So which Sanchez is the real Sanchez? Well, he's obviously not as bad as he looked after the All-Star break, but his hot start was a little too good to be true. At age 28 and with two full big-league seasons under his belt, Sanchez has pretty much established who he is at the big-league level. He'll approach 20 homers and get on base often enough to keep his job, but nothing more. In other words, he's exactly the type of player he projected to be coming up through the minors. Unfortunately, that type of player isn't quite good enough at an offense-driven position like first base. Sanchez is still a relevant option, particularly in leagues that employ deeper lineups with utility and corner infield spots, but he's not a difference-maker in mixed leagues. Target the higher-upside players first before settling for Sanchez in the late rounds. (Updated 2/8/12)
