Thomas insurance for Tigers: The Tigers have decided to send outfielder Clete Thomas to the instructional league as insurance just in case they have a need in their outfield going forward in the ALCS and beyond, reports CBSSports.com. Thomas has not played in the majors since 2009 and underwent microfracture surgery on his knee last June.
