| Kevin Slowey serves up three homers vs. D-Backs |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/17/13) Marlins starting pitcher Kevin Slowey endured a rough outing at home as he was tagged with the loss Friday night against the Diamondbacks.
Slowey (1-4), who made his ninth start of the season, had a hard time keeping the ball in the park as he surrendered a pair of home runs to Paul Goldschmidt and a solo shot to Eric Chavez. The right-hander was charged with six runs and seven hits over three innings of work. He struck out one and walked one in a 9-2 defeat.
Slowey has lost his last two starts and has seen his ERA rise from 1.81 to 3.44 over that span. He is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday against the Phillies. He is 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA in two starts against the Phillies this season.

| Kevin Slowey endures rough outing |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/12/13) Marlins pitcher Kevin Slowey, who pitched a two-hitter his last time out, took a step back as he suffered his third loss Saturday night against the Dodgers.
Slowey, who made his eighth start of the season, surrendered two runs in the third, including a solo home run to Dee Gordon. He gave up two more in the fifth and was charged with five runs and 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings in a 7-1 defeat. He walked three and failed to record a strikeout in 102 pitches, 69 strikes.
Slowey saw his ERA rise from 1.81 to 2.55 after his shortest start of the season. He is scheduled to make his next start Friday at home against the Diamondbacks. The right-hander has not faced Arizona since 2011, when he surrendered two runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning. He is 0-1 with a 2.39 ERA in four starts at Marlins Park.

| Time to pay attention to Kevin Slowey |
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (5/7/13) For his first five starts, Kevin Slowey was pretty easy to ignore. He had missed most of the previous two seasons with injuries, was never much of a strikeout guy and pitched for a Marlins team that didn't offer anything in the way of run support.
But his last two starts have been so dominant -- one run on six hits with two walks and 15 strikeouts in 15 innings -- that Fantasy owners have no choice but to take him seriously.
He's always been a control artist. His downfall with the Twins -- who at the time played in a hitter-friendly park -- was the long ball, but he'll have an easier time keeping the ball in the yard at Marlins Park. He still won't get much run support, but if he's eating innings, he's at least a serviceable stream option, right?
I now rank him 83rd at starting pitcher, which means I'm still letting him go unowned in most leagues, but at least now he's in the discussion.

| Kevin Slowey utilizing a slider |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/6/13) Marlins pitcher Kevin Slowey has been a major surprise this season, and the addition of a new pitch has helped him go deeper into games.
Slowey appears to have scrapped his cutter, and is now throwing a slider. While the pitch isn't getting an elite amount of whiffs, it is an improvement over the cut-fastball. The biggest benefit of throwing the slider is it has allowed him to pitch deeper into games this season. In the past, Slowey has had trouble picking up quality starts. He's been able to rack up five quality starts in seven chances this year.
Slowey relies on a strike-throwing, extreme-flyball approach, which can be dangerous. But Marlins Park has played friendly to hitters, particularly when it comes to home runs. Slowey has a limited upside in Fantasy leagues but can be used as an occasional spot starter, especially when he pitches at home.

| Kevin Slowey picks up first win since 2010 |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/5/13) It took him 22 appearances, including 15 starts, but Marlins starting pitcher Kevin Slowey picked up his first win since 2010 during Sunday's series finale against the Phillies.
Slowey (1-2), who made his seventh start of the season, enjoyed a dominant outing as he pitched seven shutout innings and allowed two hits in a 14-2 victory. He struck out seven and walked two in 95 pitches, 60 strikes.
Slowey has allowed just one run and six hits over his last 15 innings of work. He has struck out 15 and walked two over that span. He is scheduled to start Saturday night on the road against the Dodgers. The right-hander has allowed just two runs over 18 1/3 innings of work away from Marlins Park.
