Swarzak headed back to 'pen: Twins starting pitcher Nick Blackburn, who hasn't started since leaving his April 14 start with right shoulder stiffness, made it through a Sunday morning bullpen session, so he will return to the rotation Tuesday against the Red Sox. "I couldn't feel anything at all, so everything seems to be pretty loosened up," Blackburn said. "It's good." Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Anthony Swarzak will move to the bullpen to create a rotation spot for Blackburn and be available for relief on Monday. "Obviously no guarantees. We won't know anything until I've been out there a couple times. Just going off the bullpens I've thrown, I felt great," Blackburn said. "Every day's been such an improvement. I feel like I have to have a positive reaction from the way it's responded to all the treatments." (Updated 04/22/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Swarzak went 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in three starts this season. He's had better results in the past, but he appears best used in a long relief/spot starter role. Now that Swarzak is headed back to the bullpen, he continues to have marginal Fantasy appeal. (Updated 04/22/2012).

Jonathan Lucroy homered twice and had a career-high seven RBI, Zack Greinke pitched six strong innings to improve to 14-0 at Miller Park, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Minnesota Twins 16-4 on Sunday.
Anthony Swarzak spent the entire 2010 campaign in the minors but he did a solid job of helping out an injured Twins rotation a year ago. He made his first start in late April and after another brief stint in the minors he was recalled for good in mid-May. The right-hander went 3-5 with a 4.52 ERA in his 11 starts and finished the year with a 4.32 ERA in 27 total appearances. Swarzak, a former second-round pick, has posted some decent numbers in the minors and still possesses upside at age 26. But it looks as though he will not be in the running for a spot in the rotation during spring training. Injuries could always affect that so keep an eye on the situation throughout the season. But since he is unlikely to begin 2012 with a huge role for the Twins, plan on ignoring Swarzak in all but the deepest of AL-only formats that use middle men. (Updated 2/14/12)
