Preseason Outlook

In whatever ways Braun declined from his ridiculous rookie season to his sophomore campaign, he rebounded last year, bringing his batting average back up to well over .300 and setting career highs with 114 RBI and 113 runs scored. Of course, for all the give and take on his numbers over his first three years, he never lost his place as one of the elite outfielders in the game. But now, based on his accomplishments last year, which included an NL-leading 203 hits, he might be the best in all of Fantasy. His high strikeout rate still gives his batting average some room to fluctuate, but he proved last year he's an asset in the category. He's already an elite source of power and run production and not a complete non-factor in stolen bases. And at age 26, he can only improve, perhaps even hitting 40 homers in the near future. He's clearly first-round material even if the depth at his position makes him less than a top-five pick. (Updated 1/13/10)
