Preseason Outlook

Richard was a part of the Jake Peavy deal with the White Sox last season, moving over to the NL and a great pitcher's park in San Diego. He went 6-2 with a 3.49 ERA and .239 batting-average against in the second half, which includes 5-2, 4.08 with the Padres. They don't give him a great chance to be a winner in his second season, but they do slot him as one of their starting five and he can be a sleeper for deeper leagues. Draft him in NL-only leagues and watch him as a potential week-to-week stopgap in mixed formats when he is going well and the matchups are right. (Updated 1/20/10)
