Casilla solid in winter ball: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Minnesota is encouraged after infielder Alexi Casilla's winter ball performance. Casilla hit .336 over 31 games for Gigantes del Cibao. "I'm tired of getting hits," Casilla joked. "Oh my God. I was getting on base too much." (Updated 01/28/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Casilla finished last season with a .260 batting average with two homers, 21 RBI and 15 stolen bases over 323 at-bats and 97 games. It was an injury-plagued year for Casilla, who will enter next season as a low-end Fantasy option. (Updated 01/28/2012).

01/17/2012 01:56 2012 Fantasy outlooks: Minnesota Twins
The Twins have a long road in front of them. After having a rebuilding-type season in 2011, Minnesota is now in full-on rebuilding mode in 2012. What does that mean for your Fantasy team?
Alexi Casilla's 2011 numbers may not look like the stuff of Fantasy legends, but before you dismiss him as a relevant option in your league, keep in mind that he was in the middle of what was shaping up to be a lengthy midseason hot streak before he went down with a hamstring injury in August, hitting .293 with 12 steals and a .777 OPS over his final 222 at-bats. Those numbers wouldn't make him a shoo-in for the All-Star game or anything, but they would rate him fairly high among the middle infielders in baseball, especially when you factor in the steals. Project those 222 at-bats over 556 at-bats, and you're basically looking at another Erick Aybar, who was considered a major find off the waiver wire last year. Casilla should go undrafted in the majority of Fantasy leagues given his limited ceiling and injury history, but he might actually be something a value pick in deeper leagues. (Updated 1/25/12)
