Fantasy Analysis
Guzman has yet to homer this season and has just 16 RBI. Guzman batted just .209 over the first month and has raised his average considerably in May. That said, he doesn't hit for much power and only has low-end Fantasy appeal in NL-only leagues. (Updated 05/21/2012).

05/13/2012 20:18 Hit Parade for Week 7
As interleague play gets under way there are many matchups to break down. Our Scott White tells you who the best bets and biggest risks are in his Hit Parade for Week 7.
Jesus Guzman appeared primed to earn a starting role for the 2012 season. That is, until San Diego acquired left fielder Carlos Quentin in a trade with the White Sox during the offseason. That move, coupled with the Padres’ deal for Yonder Alonso, likely pushed Guzman out of the starting lineup. Alonso, who played the outfield in the Cincinnati Reds’ organization last year, is expected to start at first base for San Diego and leave Guzman without a full-time position. The Padres view Guzman as a highly versatile utility player this year after he tallied a .312 batting average in 76 games last season. The 27-year-old showed decent potential in only his second major league season and racked up 29 extra-base hits while driving in 44 runs. Guzman’s batting average will likely regress this season and Fantasy owners shouldn’t expect him to surpass 350 at-bats as a part-time player. He’s worth a selection as a reserve in the later rounds of NL-only Fantasy drafts for the upcoming season. (Updated 2/6/12)
