Sampson a candidate for Marlins: Florida minor league starter Chris Sampson could be an option for the Marlins to replace Chris Volstad in the rotation. Sampson, along with Brad Hand, seem to be the most likely candidates. Sampson has a 3.55 ERA with Triple-A New Orleans over 12 starts. (Updated 07/24/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
The Marlins do not need a fifth starter until July 30, but Sampson could be deserving of a look. Conventional wisdom says Hand is the most likely option since he's already been up a few times and has pitched fairly well for the Fish. Still, Sampson is 6-0 with the Zephyrs over 12 starts. Sampson isn't a strikeout pitcher and would only have NL-only Fantasy value should he get the call. (Updated 07/24/2011).
