Stubbs Ks again but shows power: Reds outfielder Drew Stubbs posted at least one strikeout for the 13th straight game in Monday's series opener against the Braves. However, he also slugged two home runs and finished 2 for 3 with a walk in the 4-1 win. He launched a solo shot off Mike Minor in the first before adding another one in the fourth, which was the tail-end of back-to-back-to-back long balls for Cincinnati. Stubbs now has five homers on the year. (Updated 05/21/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Stubbs continues to strike out at a high rate for the Reds but he showed on Monday that he is always a threat to go deep. He is batting .246 through 17 games in May with four home runs, six RBI and three stolen bases, including 23 strikeouts in 69 at-bats. The 27-year-old showed in 2010 that he can be a solid option in Fantasy but due to his inconsistent ways, leave Stubbs for deeper mixed leagues at this point. (Updated 05/21/2012).

Johnny Cueto pitched effectively into the eighth inning, Ryan Ludwick delivered two big hits and the Cincinnati Reds closed out their extended visit to New York by beating the Yankees 5-2 Sunday.
Drew Stubbs had a breakout campaign in 2010 but he took a step back last season for the Reds. After hitting 22 home runs with 77 RBI and 30 stolen bases the year before, he managed just 15 long balls with 44 RBI while striking out 205 times last season. While he was able to steal 40 bases, his slugging percentage dipped to .364 and his average dropped to .243. Manager Dusty Baker even benched Stubbs a few times last year so this will be a big season for him. The 27-year-old possesses some serious pop and speed but his prowess for striking out has hindered his value in Fantasy. Keep an eye on how he is looking during the spring before targeting him in larger formats on Draft Day. Stubbs should be considered more of an option for deeper mixed leagues heading into 2012, but he would become more valuable if he could get his numbers back to what they were in 2010.
