Feierabend to get look by club
(2/3/10) Mariners SP Ryan Feierabend, recovering from Tommy John surgery a year ago, will get a long look in spring training, according to The Sports Xchange. It's been 11 months since the surgery, and the club anticipates that he'll be able to throw without restrictions. He's already throwing bullpen sessions.
Feierabend placed on the 60-day DL
(3/16/09) The Mariners placed SP Ryan Feierabend on the 60-day disabled list Sunday. He had Tommy John surgery and will likely miss the rest of the season.
Feierabend targets return next spring
(3/11/09) From the The Sports Xchange: Ryan Feierabend had a choice to make at the end of the 2008 season. He could go ahead and have surgery on his left elbow, or he could try to see if rest and rehab would fix the problem. It didn't, so March 4, Feierabend's season ended before it started when he had Tommy John surgery. "I've been talking to a lot of guys who have had this done," Feierabend said. "They say the rehab is long and grueling." The Mariner training staff is already starting him, very lightly, on range-of-motion exercises. He'll be adding to those gradually over the coming weeks and months, with an idea that perhaps he will be healthy enough to compete for a job next spring.
