Entering his third major-league season, Bruce faces a crossroads. Will he go the way of Delmon Young, squandering all his potential and never living up to the hype, or will he go the way of Justin Morneau, finally putting it all together after needing some time to get his feet wet? Perhaps now is too early to tell -- he is only 22, after all -- but Bruce followed up an encouraging rookie season with a dreadful sophomore campaign, hitting .223 and missing two months with a fractured right wrist. He does have three factors working in his favor, though: his youth, the fact he hit 22 homers in only 345 at-bats, showing plenty of power despite an awful contact rate, and his .326 batting average and four home runs in 46 at-bats after returning. Maybe something clicked during his mental break away from the game. He remains unproven, but if you can get him late with the hype now just an afterthought, he's well worth the risk. He has the talent to become a first-rounder in Fantasy someday. (Updated 1/18/10)
