Preseason Outlook

Cabrera, now 35 years old, just won't go away. He hasn't hit 10 homers since 2004. He hasn't stolen 20 bases since 2007. But he still does just enough of everything to remain a viable Fantasy option. For the second straight year, he saved his best for last, hitting .308 in the second half, mostly with the Twins, after hitting .262 in the first half, mostly with the Athletics. He begins a new chapter with the Reds this season, but because he'll still have a starting job, you can expect him to hit his handful of homers, steal his handful of bases, and hit .285 with 80-90 runs scored -- nothing more. Those numbers won't attract anyone to him on Draft Day, but they'll make him a starter for someone before season's end. (Updated 1/31/10)
