(2:16 pm ET) Giants reliever Jean Machi so impressed in his earlier callup, posting a 1.74 ERA in nine appearances, the team recalled him Saturday, just after the 10-day waiting period for an optioned player expired.
Brett Pill was optioned to Triple-A Fresno to make room on the active roster.
Machi struck out 10 batters in 10 1/3 innings, while walking just three.

(5/7/13) The Giants activated reliever Jose Mijares from the restricted list Tuesday and optioned Jean Machi to Triple-A Fresno.

(4/28/13) With reliever Jeremy Affeldt expected to return from the disabled list this week, Giants manager Bruce Bochy told MLB.com Sunday that Jean Machi could stick around in the majors a little longer.
Machi was promoted when Affeldt landed on the DL on April 17. The right-hander has stuck out five and has not allowed a run through 6 2/3 innings of work.
"He really has shown he's a major-league pitcher and can help out anywhere," Bochy said.
Bochy has yet to make his final decision and Affeldt could rejoin the team as early as Tuesday.

(4/16/13) With reliever Jeremy Affeldt being placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a right oblique strain, the Giants recalled Jean Machi from Triple-A Fresno.
Machi worked five scoreless innings at Triple-A.

(3/30/13) Giants reliever Jean Machi has been assigned to Triple-A Fresno. Machi allowed four earned runs in 10 innings this spring, striking out seven batters and walking two.
The 31-year-old made his major-league debut for the Giants last season, surrendering five earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. He will likely be promoted to the Giants' bullpen at some point in 2013.
