| Alexi Ogando pitched with arm injury before DL stint |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (5/18/13) Rangers starting pitcher Alexi Ogando revealed to manager Ron Washington that his arm had been bothering him before his last start, after which he was placed on the disabled list, the Dallas Morning News reports.
"He finally told me that when we were talking, and I said, ‘You can’t do that’," Washington said. "He’s got a different workload this year. When you are a reliever and you only have to pitch an inning or so, you can pitch through some soreness, but when you are a starter, it’s a different situation. You can make it worse. It’s something that comes with experience. Now that he has the experience of going through this and knowing the situation, hopefully it won’t happen again. Thank God it wasn’t more serious."
Ogando is on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis.

| MRI shows no damage for Alexi Ogando |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/17/13) Rangers starting pitcher Alexi Ogando, on the 15-day disabled list, underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage on his right biceps, according to The Dallas Morning News.
"It's nothing major," Ogando told MLB.com. "It's something I've felt off and on before. I should be back to normal soon. I would have been able to pitch, but we don't want it to get worse. We want it to get better. It's just one-two starts."

| Rangers call Alexi Ogando's injury 'minor' |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (5/16/13) The biceps injury that put Rangers starting pitcher Alexi Ogando on the 15-day disabled list has been deemed minor.
"It’s minor," manager Ron Washington told Fox Sports Southwest. "He’s a starting pitcher and he takes on a big work load. Rather than let this drag on, we just decided we’re going to nip it in the bud and get it right so he doesn’t feel anything. Just keeping him from himself because he’ll take the ball and go out there."
Ogando's last trip to the DL was for a groin injury last season.

| Alexi Ogando sent to 15-day DL |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/16/13) The Rangers announced Thursday starting pitcher Alexi Ogando was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right biceps tendinitis. Josh Lindblom will replace him in the rotation Monday against the Athletics.
Ogando got the win Wednesday at Oakland, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk in six innings. He's 4-2 with a 3.08 ERA through nine starts.

| Alexi Ogando cruises with five no-hit innings |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (5/15/13) Rangers pitcher Alexi Ogando coasted to a win against the A's Wednesday, pitching five no-hit innings before finishing the game with two earned runs on four hits, a walk and one hit batter, while striking out three in six innings. He allowed the leadoff man to reach base in the seventh inning before being removed, and the runner later scored.
Ogando moved to 4-2 , lowering his ERA to 3.08. Wednesday's start was the first in six tries that he walked one batter or fewer, improving his K:BB ratio to 37:19. He'll face the A's again Monday, this time in Arlington.

| All indications are that Alexi Ogando should return to the rotation in 2013 and that is a very good thing for his value. Stuck in that middle relief limbo between starting and closing last season, Ogando put up a 3.27 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 66 innings. He started one game and saved three. The Rangers seem pretty much committed to having Ogando be part of the rotation, a role that earned him an All-Star berth in 2011, when he posted a 3.51 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. The back-and-forth can't be good for Ogando's arm -- and he did miss time with groin, hand and biceps issues in 2012 -- so expect him to fatigue at some point and hit the eventual bump in the road. But it should be minor in terms of the big picture. Ogando's Fantasy value -- especially as a starter with relief pitcher eligibility -- will get a nice bump, and he should return value if picked in the later rounds of most drafts.
