|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(9/26/14) The Brewers are expected to pick up Yovani Gallardo's 2015 option, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.
Gallardo is owed $13 million next season. Milwaukee could have bought out Gallardo's deal for $600,000, but will keep him around. The 28-year-old posted a 3.46 ERA over 187 1/3 innings this season.

(9/25/14) Brewers fallen ace Yovani Gallardo finished a disappointing season in disappointing fashion Thursday afternoon in Cincinnati.
Gallardo surrendered five runs, including three earned, in five innings to drop his record to 8-11. He walked one, fanned four, and tossed one pitch in the sixth inning that Brandon Phillips cranked over the fence in left. His victory total is the worst of his career, though his 3.51 ERA indicated little run support.

|Chump. Loser. Bust. Bum. Clown. Those are some of the terms Yovani Gallardo's Fantasy owners would have used to describe him over the first four months of 2013. Find. Steal. Stud. Beast. Savior. Those are some of the terms Gallardo's Fantasy owners would have used to describe over the final six weeks of 2013 ... after those others had already dropped him. It was a two-faced season for the 28-year-old hurler for sure. During that first stretch, he had a 4.91 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 7.1 strikeouts per nine innings. During that second stretch, he had a 2.41 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 7.4 strikeouts per nine innings. So what was the turning point? How about a two-week DL stint for a strained left hamstring in early August? Considering it was a short-term issue to an unrelated body part, it doesn't exactly explain the turnaround, except by giving him a chance to clear his head, but the truth is his struggles didn't have much explanation either. He was never the most consistent pitcher from start to start, battling his control off and on, but his ability to miss bats generally made him an asset. Because his strikeout rate never corrected, he's not the top-30 starting pitcher he's been in years past, but his strong finish keeps him in the top 50.
