Gallardo takes another ND : Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo did not factor into the decision during Saturday's contest against the Twins. Gallardo, who was making his ninth start of the year, allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits over six innings in the 5-4 loss. Both runs he surrendered came off the bat of Brian Dozier, who had a pair of RBI flyouts. Gallardo was pulled after throwing 108 pitches and finished with three walks and three strikeouts, while earning the no-decision. (Updated 05/19/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Gallardo seemed to really labor on the mound Saturday afternoon, which has been the case for most of the season. The 26-year-old has logged double-digit wins and 200-plus strikeouts in each of his last three season, but will really need to pick up the pace if he wants to reach those marks this year. Gallardo has only managed to win one of his last seven starts and has gone 1-3 with a 4.05 ERA over that stretch to go along with 39 strikeouts and 18 walks. He is scheduled to make his next start on Friday at Arizona. Gallardo has yet to lose to the Diamondbacks, going 5-0 with a 1.20 in five career starts against them. Leave him active in the majority of formats heading into to his next outing. (Updated 05/19/2012).

Yovani Gallardo was one of Milwaukee's more consistent pitchers in 2011 and finished with some of the best numbers of his young career. He posted career highs in wins (17), strikeouts (207) and innings pitched (207 1/3), all while posting a 3.52 ERA in 33 starts. The additions of Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum took some pressure off of the right-hander and he was supplied more than enough offense with a potent lineup backing him up. While he allowed 193 hits – the most he ever had -- he walked just 59 and compiled at least 200 strikeouts for the third straight campaign. He heads into 2012 as a member of the potent Brewers rotation once again and should only continue to improve at age 25. While he has been known to give up the gopher ball, his career 3.63 ERA and the fact that he will be playing for a contender will make him a solid option in Fantasy once again. Consider Gallardo a Top 20 Fantasy starting pitcher on Draft Day, worthy of being taken in the early rounds. (Updated 2/17/12)
