Drabek overcomes wildness for win: Toronto starter Kyle Drabek was wildly effective on Monday night at Tampa Bay. Drabek became the third pitcher in Toronto team history to throw three wild pitches in one inning. He walked six batters in the game over six innings, but still managed to earn the win against Jeremy Hellickson and the Rays. Drabek improved to 4-4 on the season as he allowed just two earned runs on three hits with his six walks over six frames. He struck out three and needed 118 pitches to go the distance he did. Drabeks biggest mistake was allowing a home run to B.J. Upton that hit a catwalk and was originally ruled a double before being overturned. Drabeks ERA is at 3.27 on the year. (Updated 05/21/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Drabek has walked far too many batters this season, though hes basically been able to limit the damage done by those walks. His ERA remains solid despite walking 34 batters over 52 1/3 innings with 41 strikeouts over that span. Still, Drabek has only given up more than three earned runs in a start once all year and that does give him some mixed-league Fantasy value as he figures things out in the majors. Drabek was a two-start hurler this scoring period and that gave him some added value. His second outing comes Sunday at Texas. (Updated 05/21/2012).

05/11/2012 12:24 Blue Jays' Escobar dazzling with the glove
Toronto's Yunel Escobar scored three runs and cracked four singles against Minnesota in Thursday night's win, but it's not his bat that's worth watching. Rather, it is his hands and his glove as one of the game's pre-eminent shortstops continues to improve.
Following a rough introduction into the majors last year, Toronto starting pitcher Kyle Drabek will earn a shot at redemption this season. Drabek, who opened the 2011 campaign in the Blue Jays' starting rotation after only three starts at the end of 2010, enjoyed quality production before unraveling and ultimately being demoted to the minors. The right-hander allowed just four earned runs and struck out 17 batters during his first three starts, but showed some troubling signs with his control (11 walks). Drabek's high walk rate continued to create problems as he posted a lowly 15.30 ERA in three starts during June before being sent to Triple-A. He finished with 55 walks and 51 strikeouts in 18 appearances (14 starts) for Toronto as he was added to the bullpen at the end of the year. The former top prospect will compete for a spot in the rotation this spring and has the pedigree to be a major-league pitcher. Even if he wins a starting job, he remains a low-end option in AL-only Fantasy until he performs consistently. (Updated 2/12/12)
