Astros sign Colby Rasmus to one-year deal

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/20/15) The Astros announced Tuesday they signed outfielder Colby Rasmus to a one-year deal. Rasmus will make $8 million next season, according to FOX Sports.

Rasmus has spent six seasons in the majors, playing for the Cardinals and Blue Jays. He has hit more than 20 home runs three times. He hit .225 with 18 home runs, 21 doubles and 40 RBI in 104 games in 2014 for Toronto.

Rasmus has a career .217 average with one home run and two RBI in 20 games at Minute Maid Park.

Astros, Rasmus reach 1-year deal

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/20/15) The Astros have reached an agreement with free agent outfielder Colby Rasmus, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. Rasmus is expected to sign a one-year deal.

It was reported earlier Tuesday that Rasmus was in Houston to take a physical.

"I've always been tight with [general manager Jeff Luhnow] and he's always been good to me," Rasmus told MLB.com. "I've always like playing against the Astros and like the way they've handled themselves. Jeff being the scouting director who drafted me, it's pretty enticing."

Astros have interest in signing Colby Rasmus

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/20/15) The Astros are considering signing outfielder Colby Rasmus, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

Rasmus was in Houston on Tuesday to take a physical, according to MLB.com.

"I've always been tight with [general manager Jeff Luhnow] and he's always been good to me," Rasmus said. "I've always like playing against the Astros and like the way they've handled themselves. Jeff being the scouting director who drafted me, it's pretty enticing."

Rasmus added he has no deal with the Astros yet.

"Here to make sure everything’s good, the ticker’s good and we’ll go from there," he said.

Rasmus has spent six seasons in the majors, playing for the Cardinals and Blue Jays. He has hit more than 20 home runs three times. He hit .225 with 18 home runs, 21 doubles and 40 RBI in 104 games in 2014 for Toronto.

Colby Rasmus wants one-year deal worth more than $7 million

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/15/15) Free agent outfielder Colby Rasmus is seeking a one-year deal in excess of the $7 million salary he made in 2014, a source told The Baltimore Sun. It appears that is more than the Orioles are willing to go right now.

The Rays, Royals and Cubs have also reportedly shown interest in the 28-year-old outfielder this offseason.

Report: Orioles talks with Colby Rasmus gaining steam

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1/8/15) The Orioles contract talks with outfielder Colby Rasmus are gaining steam, according to ESPN.

The two sides have been linked for weeks now, but it's unclear whether Baltimore will pull the trigger. Manager Buck Showalter met with Rasmus a few weeks ago, but the team did not make an immediate offer following the meeting. Both sides are reportedly interested in a one-year deal. That would allow Rasmus to build his value and head into free agency following the 2015 season.

Rasmus is coming off a season in which he hit .225/.287/.448 over 346 at-bats.
