Jurrjens doing well at Gwinnett: Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens tossed a seven-inning complete game on Friday for Triple-A Gwinnet. Fantasy Analysis
Jurrjens was 0-2 with a 9.37 ERA in four starts for Atlanta this season before he was sent to Gwinnett on April 24. While he could be rejoining the Braves rotation sooner than later, Atlanta isn't going to rush Jurrjens back and have him continue to struggle. Fantasy owners in deeper mixed leagues should continue to track his progress and if room allows it, stash him in hopes he returns to the majors soon. (Updated 05/12/2012).

Believe it or not, Jair Jurrjens was actually in the discussion to start for the NL All-Star team last July. He had a 12-4 record, a 1.87 ERA and the novelty of being someone other than Roy Halladay. It's a good thing he didn't get the nod, though, because he won exactly one game the rest of the way, posting a 5.88 ERA in seven starts. His right knee -- the one that required arthroscopic surgery prior to the season -- began to bother him, landing him on the DL for a two-week stretch in early August and sidelining him for good in early September. The injury likely contributed to his downfall and no doubt ruined his trade value this offseason. With the right-hander approaching free agency in 2014 and the Braves looking to open some rotation spots for their slew of pitching prospects, Jurrjens will remain a hot name in the rumor mill all season, but he'll likely have to restore his value before the Braves can trade him. If Fantasy owners approach him this year the same way MLB teams have this offseason, he could be a bargain on Draft Day. Given the injury risk and lack of strikeout potential, the 26-yar-old likely won't be one of the top 40 starting pitchers selected in mixed leagues. (Updated 1/25/12)
