| Mike Baxter becomes walkoff hero |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/7/13) Mets outfielder Mike Baxter came through in the late stages of Tuesday's contest against the White Sox.
Baxter made a pinch-hit appearance with a runner on second base in the 10th inning. The 26-year-old slapped a walkoff RBI single to break a scoreless tie for the Mets.
Baxter has gone 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI in his last two games played. He is hitting .229 with two RBI in 48 at-bats.

| Mike Baxter starts from the top |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (4/27/13) Mets outfielder Mike Baxter went 1 for 3 while serving as the leadoff hitter during New York's 9-4 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday. Baxter earned his second start of the season and first since April 6 in the top spot of the lineup, pushing his batting average to .235.
Over his first 18 games, Baxter has registered nearly as many walks (six) as hits (eight) for a stellar .357 on-base percentage, but remains stuck in a platoon in right field.

| Mike Baxter scores twice in first start |
by Ed Gauna | CBSSports.com (4/6/13) Mets outfielder Mike Baxter made his first start of the season on Saturday against the Marlins. He batted leadoff and went 1 for 3 with a pair of runs scored. The 28-year-old also stole a base in the 7-3 win.
"He stays within himself," manager Terry Collins told ESPN.com. "He keeps his game going. He has a very, very good knowledge of the strike zone, doesn’t go outside the strike zone, takes a base on balls. Gosh, if he was a genuine base-stealer, he’d be dangerous."

| Mets' bench players to work way into lineup |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/4/13) Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday he will start working some of his bench players into the starting lineup this weekend against the Marlins. Among those players are outfielders Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Mike Baxter, who are both expected to get a start this weekend.

| Baxter tries to catch up in battle |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (2/17/13) Last year at this time, outfielder Mike Baxter reported to Mets camp looking to land a bench spot after appearing in just 31 total games during his first two seasons in the majors. This year, Baxter, known mainly for his remarkable catch that preserved Johan Santana's no-hitter last June, is among the candidates for the starting job in right field. For Baxter, nothing has changed. "I'm still going to come out here like I need to make the team, because I do," Baxter told MLB.com on Sunday. "That's the reality. As much as we want to pretend it's not, the reality is that you have to come in and you have to perform day in and day out. Whether I'm fighting for a starting job or a bench job, I'm going to approach it the same way I did last year, and that's just to come in and play focused baseball."

| Mike Baxter had one of the more memorable moments in the majors last season, but it ended up costing him some time. He suffered a displaced right collarbone while making a diving catch that saved Johan Santana's no-hitter in June and missed nearly two months of action. He would return in late July and ended up batting .263 with three home runs and 17 RBI in 89 games in the majors. The 27-year-old has played in just 120 games in the majors but is expected to compete for playing time in the outfield during the spring. While Baxter has had a couple of decent seasons in the minors, he does not appear to have a ton of upside in Fantasy so owners should plan on ignoring him in the majority of formats on Draft Day.
