Yankees OF Brett Gardner sits with poor history vs. David Price
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(4/22/15) Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner received a breather Wednesday against the Tigers, as manager Joe Girardi opted to keep Chris Young in the lineup since he is doing well offensively.
Gardner's history against Tigers starting pitcher David Price likely also played a role in Girardi's decision. He is just 3 for 22 (.136) with two RBI, four walks and five strikeouts in his career against the lefty.
Gardner is batting .333 (11 for 33) with one double, three RBI, four walks, five stolen bases and nine runs in his last nine games.
Yankees LF Gardner continues to run wild in Tuesday win

|(4/22/15) It took Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner six games to get his wheels churning, but he sure has been motoring on the basepaths lately.
Gardner has five stolen bases in his last five games after stealing zero in the first six. He ripped off another one Tuesday night against host Detroit.
Of course, you can't steal first and Gardner has been getting on base. He contributed two singles, one walk and two runs to the victory over the Tigers and is 6-for-16 with five runs over the last four games.
Gardner has raised his batting average to .308, the first time it has been over .300 this year.

|(4/18/15) Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner returned to the starting lineup and will bat second during Saturday's contest against Tampa Bay.
Gardner has been sidelined since Monday with a bruised right wrist. He is hitting .261 (6 for 23) with three walks, a double, a home run, five runs scored and three RBI in six games. Gardner's return to the lineup bumped Chase Headley to the No. 7 hole in the order.
Yankees OF Brett Gardner hopeful he can play Saturday
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(4/17/15) After taking a full batting-practice session Friday, Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner said his bruised wrist is feeling better and he did not rule playing Saturday, reports MLB.com.
"If I don't get a chance to play [Friday], hopefully [Saturday]," Gardner said. "I hit in the cage and it felt pretty good."
Gardner has been out since Monday with a bruised right wrist after he was hit by a pitch. Manager Joe Girardi said he wants to see Gardner take more batting practice before putting him back in the lineup.
"My inclination is to give him one more day, but I want to see [batting practice] first," Girardi said. "He did take some swings off the tee and said he felt pretty good."
Yankees LF Brett Gardner absent from lineup again Friday
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(4/17/15) Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner (wrist) is out of the lineup for the third straight game Friday night at Tampa Bay. Chris Young has again taken his place.
Gardner, who had scored a run in five consecutive games before going down, stated that he felt good enough to play and will definitely be fine Saturday.
|2014 summary: As the Yankees' primary leadoff hitter, Brett Gardner posted his fourth season with at least 80 runs and 20 steals within the last five years. In his seventh major league season, Gardner did something new for Fantasy owners: hit double-digit home runs. The extra power, in the form of 17 homers, helped Gardner to drive in a career-high 58 runs and finish as a top 30 outfielder for the first time since 2011.|
Playing time status: Gardner's 141 starts in the outfield last season were a career high, and he stands to get at least as much playing time this season.
2015 outlook: Gardner's power burst gave him enough production to serve ably as a No. 2 outfielder in standard mixed leagues, but between his track record and the fact that he wasn't hitting flies any farther than he had in previous seasons, it's best not to count on a repeat performance. He's not a big-time base-stealer anymore either, so Gardner is not a lock to be among the 40 most productive outfielders in 2015. It could be a reach to take him before the middle-to-late rounds.
