Orioles LF Nolan Reimold is opening eyes this spring

by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com
(3/25/15) Orioles left fielder Nolan Reimold is having a terrific spring. Now that he feels healthy again, Reimold is opening eyes again on the diamond, according to th Baltimore Sun.

The 31-year-old is batting .333 with a .459 on-base percentage in 17 games. The left fielder has one homerun and six RBI this spring. What is more important than his stats, is the fact that he is healthy.

"This is Nolan before he got hurt, so far," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "He's playing without caution. … Even physically the eyeball test is better. He is doing everything everybody else is doing and then some. You can see it on his face how good he feels."

Reimold, drafted in the second round of the 2005 draft, has missed multiple seasons due to injuries throughout his career. Showalter talked about what Reimold has overcome and his resolve to stick with the game.

"This guy has had issues for three years, and some of it life-altering issues. The heck with getting ready to play baseball, how about being able to pick up your kids?" Showalter said. "One description of Nolan [is] soft? It's just the opposite. Most people would never have continued to do what he is doing with the things he's had."

Orioles' Showalter: Reimold 'might be this year's Steve Pearce'

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/24/15) Orioles manager Buck Showalter indicated Tuesday that outfielder Nolan Reimold could be in for a big season, ESPN.com reports.

"Look out," Showalter said. "He might be this year's Steve Pearce."

Pearce had yet to make a mark in the majors coming into 2014 but hit .293/.373/.556 with 21 home runs and 49 RBI in 338 at-bats with the Orioles last season. Reimold has more of a track record of success in five seasons with the Orioles than Pearce did before last year but struggled with two teams in 2014. However, Reimold has hit .296/.406/.444 with one home run and six RBI in 27 at-bats this spring after resigning a minor-league contract with the team in February.

Orioles' Nolan Reimold likely to start year at Triple-A

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/18/15) Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold, who signed a minor-league contract with the club in February, will likely start the season at Triple-A Norfolk, and will try to work his way back into the majors, according to MASN Sports.

"Yeah. I just have to play and show I can do it again," Reimold said. "We'll see what the year brings, but I'm excited for it.

"It's all about being consistent. Feeling confident every time you step in the box and that hasn't been the case for me the last two or three years. Just want to be a consistent player again and put my work in so I can feel good on the field and stay on the field."

Reimold slashed .232/.282/.435 with five doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI in 29 games with the Blue Jays and Diamondbacks in 2014.

Orioles invite 15 nonroster players to spring training

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/10/15) The Orioles announced their spring-training roster Tuesday, including 15 nonroster invitees.

Pitchers Dane De La Rosa, Hunter Harvey, Mark Hendrickson, Steve Johnson, Chris Jones and Chaz Roe will be with the team this spring. Harvey, the team's first-round pick in 2013, had his 2014 season end prematurely due to elbow tightness.

The sextet of nonroster pitchers will be joined in camp by catchers J.P. Arencibia, Ryan Lavarnway and Brian Ward; infielders Michael Almanzar, Paul Janish and Chris Parmelee; and outfielders Dariel Alvarez, Nolan Reimold and Matt Tuiasosopo .
