Fantasy Analysis
Brignac started five games this season, with hits in just two of them, as he has gotten off to an extremely cold start to the season. He hit just .193 last season as well, so some time in the minor leagues working on things can probably only help. He has no value in any Fantasy format. (Updated 04/20/2012).

04/13/2012 21:03 Red Sox get well at home, but something else goes wrong

04/13/2012 18:03 Red Sox win home opener, lose Ellsbury
Josh Beckett pitched eight solid innings Friday and the Boston Red Sox rebounded from a rough road trip by winning their eighth straight home opener, 12-2 over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Reid Brignac continued to underwhelm with the bat a year ago as he posted some of the lowest numbers of his career. After batting .256 with eight home runs and 45 RBI in 2010 -- all career highs -- he bounced around from the majors to the minors and hit just .193 in 249 at-bats. He also slugged a lowly .221 with just one homer and 15 RBI. The Rays love his defense but the former second-round pick has not developed offensively the way they had hoped. Brignac will compete with Sean Rodriguez for playing time at shortstop during the spring so keep an eye on the situation going forward. But even if he sees steady playing time in 2012, Brignac should be considered as more of an option for AL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 2/8/12)
