Lincoln moving back to bullpen : As expected, Pirates reliever Brad Lincoln will be moved back to the bullpen manager Clint Hurdle confirmed to reporters on Tuesday. Lincoln allowed two runs over six innings, while making a spot start for Pittsburgh on Monday. Im not getting that far ahead of myself, Pirates manager Clint Hurdle told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. I think we need to take things pretty much as they come. This is the best weve ever seen him. Weve got five starters who are pretty competitive right now. He gives us great depth across the board. (Updated 05/15/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
This move shouldn't come as much of a surprise as the Pirates had said all along that Lioncoln would be moved back to the bullpen following his start on Monday. However, the right-hander pitched so well in his outing that he might have secured his position as the team's spot starter for immediate future. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.33 ERA on the season and has registered 19 strikeouts and seven walks over that stretch. Still, as merely a middle reliever, Lincoln's value should remain in deeper NL-only formats that reward true middle men moving forward. (Updated 05/15/2012).
01/25/2012 10:56 2012 Fantasy outlooks: Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates made great strides (for them) in 2011, so what does the 2012 campaign have in store for their fans and Fantasy owners? Our al Melchior puts Pittsburgh under the Fantasy microscope.
Brad Lincoln spent most of 2011 in the minors again but fared better once getting called up. He went 1-4 with a 6.66 ERA in 11 appearances (nine starts) during his call-up in 2010 and improved on that a season ago, posting a 4.72 ERA in 12 appearances (eight starts). He went 2-3 with a 4.29 ERA as a starter and could compete for a spot in the rotation this season. The right-hander has never quite lived up to being the fourth overall pick in the 2006 draft but still has some decent upside at age 26. Keep an eye on how he does during the spring as Lincoln will be worth a look in NL-only formats if he can crack the rotation. (Updated 2/21/12)
