| Cole Gillespie can't earn a spot |

(3/30/13) The Giants reassigned outfielder Cole Gillespie to Triple-A Fresno Saturday, where he will open the season. Gillespie was battling for a roster spot, but the Giants opted to carry three catchers, leaving little room for another outfielder.
Gillespie had a nice spring, posting a .278 batting averaging, .854 on-base plus slugging percentage in 54 at-bats. Gillespie has 45 career home runs in 449 Triple-A games, mostly in the Arizona system.

(9/25/12) The Diamondbacks released outfielder Cole Gillespie on Monday after he successfully passed through waivers. Gillespie was designated for assignment last week after hitting .308 with 13 home runs in 126 games for Triple-A Reno this season.

Matt Kemp hit a two-run homer to become the first Dodgers player in 70 years to lead the NL in home runs and RBI, and Los Angeles held off a late rally to beat the playoff-bound Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5 on Wednesday night.

Ryan Roberts' grand slam capped a six-run 10th inning that gave the Arizona Diamondbacks the most amazing of their 48 come-from-behind victories this season, a 7-6 triumph against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.
