Thatcher to go slow in spring: After dealing with shoulder issues after training camp the previous two seasons, San Diego relief pitcher Joe Thatcher is hoping to remain healthy this year. Thatcher was deemed healthy after having shoulder surgery last May and is hoping to win a job in the Padres bullpen as a left-handed specialist. "It's important to have a good spring," Thatcher told MLB.com. "It's a good experience because you really get a feel for what you're trying to do. Hopefully, all that stuff is behind me now." Fantasy Analysis
In an effort to help Thatcher stay healthy, the Padres staff will not have him throw as many pitches this spring as he has in the past. "Were going to change Joes schedule for the first two to three weeks," San Diego manager Bud Black said Monday. "We know what he can do and we know what has happened. We want him to be ready for the season." For now, Fantasy owners should ignore Thatcher in all drafts for the 2012 campaign. (Updated 02/20/2012).
