| Royals option Irving Falu to Triple-A |

(3/27/13) The Royals announced Wednesday that infielder Irving Falu has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha. Falu hit .217/.250/.261 in 24 plate appearances with the Royals this spring. He made his major-league debut in 2012, hitting .341/.371/.435 in 89 plate appearances for the Royals, and is likely to serve in a utility-infielder capacity at the big-league level at some point this season.

Puerto Rico dethrones Japan, reaches WBC final
Alex Rios hit a two-run homer, Mike Aviles singled twice and drove in a run, and Puerto Rico eliminated two-time reigning World Baseball Classic champion Japan with a -3-1 victory Sunday night to reach the final.
