(4/22/13) Athletics second baseman Scott Sizemore has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
Sizemore tore his ACL in his left knee for the second consecutive season. He is not expected to make much of an impact this year, so the news is not surprising.

(4/16/13) Athletics third baseman Scott Sizemore underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, the team announced Tuesday. Sizemore, who suffered the same injury last year, will miss the remainder of this season after re-tearing his ACL April 9.

(4/11/13) Athletics third baseman Scott Sizemore is scheduled to have surgery to repair the torn ACL in his left knee on Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Sizemore suffered the same injury last season and he will be sidelined for the rest of the 2013 campaign.

(4/10/13) Athletics second baseman Scott Sizemore will miss the remainder of the 2013 season after being diagnosed with a torn ACL for the second straight year.
The A's announced last February that an ACL tear would sideline Sizemore for the entire season, and now his 2013 comes to an end after just six plate appearances and one hit (a double).

(4/10/13) The A's placed infielder Scott Sizemore on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday after he sprained his surgically repaired knee Tuesday. Andy Parrino was summoned from Triple-A Sacramento to take Sizemore's roster spot.

| Scott Sizemore was primed to be the Athletics' starting third baseman last year, but a torn ACL put him on the shelf for the entire season. Josh Donaldson eventually settled in as Sizemore's replacement, and he performed well enough that he is likely to reprise the role. That leaves Sizemore to compete with Jemile Weeks and Grant Green for the starting job at second base. In parts of two seasons as a major leaguer, Sizemore has shown decent power, particularly for a middle infielder, but he has logged a .239 batting average in 158 career games. Sizemore has the potential to strike out at a lower rate and get more hits on balls in play, so not only could he provide 15-plus homers with regular playing time, but he could hit .280 or higher. Because none of these achievements are close to sure things, Sizemore is only relevant in AL-only leagues on Draft Day. (Updated 1/8/13) |
