Fantasy Analysis
Parra is starting regularly in center field with Chris Young on the disabled list. Unfortunately, Young is on a rehab assignment and could return during Fantasy Week 7 (May 14-20), so Parra could be headed back to the bench shortly. The Diamondbacks will still find ways to get him starts, but his PT will be reduced. Parra is just a stopgap Fantasy option while Young is out. (Updated 05/16/2012).

05/13/2012 20:18 Hit Parade for Week 7
As interleague play gets under way there are many matchups to break down. Our Scott White tells you who the best bets and biggest risks are in his Hit Parade for Week 7.
Gerardo Parra made his mark as a minor league prospect with high on-base percentages, but in his first two seasons as a major leaguer, he drew precious few walks. The 24-year-old made some progress in his third year, walking in nearly 9 percent of his plate appearances and posting a .357 on-base percentage. As an extreme ground ball hitter, if Parra isn't getting on base, he's not helping Fantasy owners. Furthermore, if he isn't getting regular playing time, there is very little chance of him making an impact in Fantasy, and his chances at a starting role went out the window with Arizona's offseason signing of Jason Kubel. Unless the Diamondbacks somehow work him into some regular starts, Parra will be nothing more than a low-end option in NL-only formats. (Updated 1/9/12)
