Injury Report
Quadriceps - 15-day DL. On Class A rehab assignment (Updated - 5/17/12)
Fantasy Analysis
Allen was just 2 for 20 on the season before the injury, so even if he gets back to the majors soon, he should not be owned in most Fantasy formats. (Updated 05/17/2012).

05/06/2012 18:23 From Ackley to Zobrist, the 'I homered before Albert' club had 273 members
It's still hard to believe that Albert Pujols didn't hit his first 2012 home run until Sunday. It's still hard to believe that 273 other major leaguers hit a home run this year before Albert. Some of them aren't even major leaguers anymore.
04/27/2012 01:46 The Lineup: Pinch-hitters come through, closers don't
The Rays' Brandon Allen hit a pinch-hit walk-off homer for the Rays, while San Diego's Mark Kotsay hit a pinch-hit double in the eighth inning to top the Nationals. Meanwhile, closers Heath Bell of the Marlins and Sean Marshall of the Reds blew leads in losses.
Brandon Allen saw his most extensive playing time in the majors last season but continued to struggle against higher-level pitching. After hitting 18 homers in 304 at-bats for Triple-A Reno, he was called up by the Diamondbacks in mid-July and batted just .172 over his first 29 at-bats. While he did slug three homers and seven RBI over that span, he was traded to the A's at the deadline and saw more playing time in Oakland. He would bat .205 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 41 games with the A's. Allen has posted some prolific power numbers in the minors but his career .210 average and .383 slugging percentage in the majors shows that he still has a ways to go. Also playing in the O.co Coliseum -- a pitcher's park -- could hinder his power. The 25-year-old has the starting first base job for now but will have to hold off Kila Ka'aihue and perhaps even Daric Barton for at-bats during the regular season. His power alone makes him a worthwhile option in AL-only formats. (Updated 3/27/12)
