Pearce struck for the first time in the bottom of the third. With the bases empty, Pearce belted an 82 mph slider out to left for a solo shot. He struck again in his next at-bat. With two men on, Pearce clubbed a 93 mph fastball out to left center for the three-run shot. He finished 2 for 3, with two runs scored and four RBI.

(9/17/14) The promotion of prospect Christian Walker could mean a bit of rest for blossoming Orioles first baseman Steve Pearce downt the stretch after the team clinched the American League East title Tuesday night, per the Baltimore Sun.
Pearce has received more significant playing time than at any point in his major league career. He has been particularly hot lately with eight hits, including two home runs, in the last 17 at-bats. Despite having made his debut in 2007, his 320 at-bats this year nearly doubles his previous single-season high.

(9/13/14) Orioles first baseman Steve Pearce went 2 for 4 with a double and a solo home run in his team's 3-2 loss to the Yankees Saturday.
Pearce hit his first home run of the month in the sixth inning Tuesday to cut his team's deficit to one run, but the Orioles weren't able to find any more offense in the game. He has hit .287/.364/.529 with 17 home runs and 40 RBI in 310 at-bats.

(9/6/14) Orioles first baseman Steve Pearce is finally healthy enough to make his return to the lineup Saturday against the Rays, after missing more than a week with an abdominal strain.
Pearce is batting second and starting at first base for Saturday's game, his first appearance since suffering the injury last Friday.
|Steve Pearce finished 2013 with a .261 batting average and four home runs over 119 at-bats. While Orioles traded for David Lough in the offseason, Pearce enters 2014 with probably his greatest shot at playing time in his six-season career (having to chip away from rookie Henry Urrutia, veteran Nolan Reimold, and Lough for at-bats in the outfield and DH). Pearce, 30, is a former top-100 prospect who showed some nice power and batting average potential early in his minor league career (and hit .318 as recently as 2012 in Triple-A), but never saw it translate to much in the majors. His career-high in at-bats was set in 2012 (159), but his defensive flexibility -- and the lack of slam-dunk starting options in Baltimore -- give Pearce some hope of playing time. He's a reserve pick, at best, in AL-only Roto formats, but Pearce could see upwards of 300 at-bats this season if things fall the right way.
