Luis Valbuena expected back Wednesday
|
| Luis Valbuena earned himself some decent playing time at third base for the Cubs last season after hitting .303 with eight home runs and 31 RBI in 58 games at Triple-A Iowa. He was called up in mid-June but did not have the same success with the bat. Valbuena batted just .219 in 90 games in the majors and hit four home runs with 28 RBI. The 27-year-old is expected to compete with Josh Vitters at the hot corner during spring training, but the Cubs could also bring in someone else to man third base on more of a full-time basis. Even if Valbuena ends up seeing decent playing time in 2013, plan on not drafting him. (Updated 12/11/12) |
