Detwiler moving back to bullpen?: Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told the Washington Times on Friday that it's "fair to say" either Chien-Ming Wang, John Lannan or Ross Detwiler will open next season in the bullpen. Detwiler went 4-5 with a 3.00 ERA in 15 appearances (10 starts) last season. (Updated 12/23/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Detwiler started last season in the minors but was called up in July and was mainly used out of the bullpen. He would be put into the rotation in August and went 3-5 with a 3.20 ERA over his final nine starts. He seems the most likely candidate to move to a relief role but the Nationals might not want to stunt his grown at age 25 with a move like that. Keep an eye on the situation going forward to see how everything shakes out. As a starter, Detwiler would be worth targeting in NL-only formats on Draft Day but he would not hold much Fantasy value as a reliever. (Updated 12/23/2011).
10/14/2011 19:55 Cano, Granderson headline MLB's Taiwan exhibition tour
Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson of the New York Yankees, Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers and Skip Schumaker of the St. Louis Cardinals headline the 19-man roster announced for Major League Baseball's Taiwan exhibition tour next month.
The Nationals selected Ross Detwiler sixth overall in the 2007 draft and are apparently just as happy with the pick today as they were when they first made it. At least, that's what they'd have you believe after allegedly refusing to include him in a potential deal for Michael Bourn last season. That's not so much an endorsement of Detwiler's abilities as an indication that the Nationals really, really want him in their rotation. Hey, Brad Peacock and Tommy Milone going to Oakland in the Gio Gonzalez deal only makes it all the more plausible. Detwiler just has to beat out one of Chien-Ming Wang and John Lannan, and the job is his. The good news is he at least looked capable at the major-league level last year, rebounding from his earlier hiccups with a 3.20 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in nine late-season starts. But he still wasn't much of an innings eater, and his strikeout rate was hardly the stuff of legends. With the Nationals hoping to contend, they might choose to take the safe-not-sorry approach and put Detwiler in the bullpen, but even as a starter, the 25-year-old would be strictly an NL-only option in Fantasy.
