Royals' Moustakas, Perez batting better than .340 vs. Quintana

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/24/15) Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas and catcher Salvador Perez have good track records against White Sox starting pitcher Jose Quintana, who will be on the mound for Friday's AL Central showdown.

Moustakas is batting .345 (10 for 29) with two doubles, two home runs, three RBI, two walks and seven strikeouts in his career against the left-hander, while Perez is batting .364 (12 for 33) with one triple, two home runs, three doubles, seven RBI, two walks and five strikeouts.

Both players are also doing well against lefties in 2015. Moustakas, who bats left-handed, is batting .355 (11 for 31) with one home run, three doubles and three RBI against lefties, while Perez -- who bats right-handed -- is batting .296 (8 for 27) with one double, one home run and five RBI.

Royals' Mike Moustakas breaks through with HR, go-ahead RBI hit

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(4/22/15) Mike Moustakas hit two-run homer in the fourth inning and then delivered the go-ahead run with a single in the eighth to help lift the Royals over the Twins on Tuesday.

"You almost want to stand up on this table and yell, 'I told you so!'" Royals manager Ned Yost said referring to his decision to sick with the struggling third baseman. "But I'm not. I'm not an I-told-you-so kind of guy."

Moustakas was 2 for his last 16 entering Tuesday's game.

Royals' Mike Moustakas cools off slightly

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/20/15) Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas cooled off at the plate over the weekend. He's hitless in his last nine at bats and has dropped to a .304 average, after entering Friday at .382.

Moustakas has two home runs and two RBI this season, but none of either since April 11.

Mike Moustakas, Salvador Perez homer for Royals

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/12/15) Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez both hit fourth-inning home runs in the Royals' 6-4 win over the Angels.

Moustakas hit a solo shot as part of a five-run fourth-inning rally. He went two for four on the day with a walk and his first stolen base of the year. The home run was his second on the season, and he's now hitting .353.

Perez hit a two-run homer later in the inning. He went two for four on the day. On the season, he has two home runs, six RBI and is hitting .421.

Royals' Mike Moustakas learning to hit over infield shift

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/10/15) Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas was crippled by the infield shift in 2014, reducing him to a .212 hitter. But since Kansas City's postseason run, Moustakas has opted to hit the ball over the shift, which resulted in a franchise-record five postseason homers and one through three games this season.

"I think back to when I was in the minors, I used to use all fields to some degree," Moustakas said, per MLB.com. "Then when I got up here, I started to feel like I had to pull everything. I was definitely a dead-pull hitter.

"But now I feel like I'm going back to the hitter I used to be, someone who can drive the ball the other way. The shift has definitely made me more of a complete hitter."
