Preseason Outlook

Blackburn has posted two full seasons in the major leagues with pretty consistent numbers both years, averaging an 11-11 record with a 4.05 ERA and a 1.365 WHIP. That season slots him among the top 100 starting pitchers to target on Draft Day. He is one of the more hittable pitchers in baseball, allowing 240 hits last season, but he doesn't hurt himself with walks and doesn't run high pitch counts so he can eat innings and win games for the contending Twins. There are many more intriguing arms to consider ahead of Blackburn on Draft Day, but there has to be something said for consistency. Blackburn is that in his young career. (Updated 1/12/10)
