Blackburn feeling good for Twins: MLB.com reports on Saturday that Twins SP Nick Blackburn (forearm surgery) should be 100 percent ready to compete in spring training. Fantasy Analysis
Blackburn finished last year 7-10 with a 4.49 ERA in 26 starts. As long as he comes back healthy and earns a spot in the rotation, Blackburn will be a low-end SP option on Draft Day in 2012. (Updated 01/28/2012).

Why should owners have even higher hopes for Cole Hamels in 2012? Could Homer Bailey finally be able to deliver on his potential? Our Al Melchior profiles four pitchers to remember of Draft Day.
With a career rate of 4.3 per nine innings, Blackburn might be the worst source of strikeouts in the majors. But for as hittable as he is, he has proven to be a competent part of the Twins starting rotation, eating innings and producing a fair number of quality starts. He is prone to blowouts, though, which usually puts his ERA on the wrong side of 4.00 and keeps him out of the mixed-league discussion. The added complication this season is that he's coming off surgery, having missed the final five weeks of the 2011 season because of an entrapped nerve in his right forearm. He should be ready for the start of the season, but even the slightest setback could eliminate what little Fantasy he has. If you need an innings eater in a deeper Head-to-Head league, Blackburn deserves a look, but Rotisserie owners should recognize that he'll likely do more harm than good in the ERA, WHIP and strikeout categories.
