| Wolf to undergo Tommy John |
| (10/23/12) Randy Wolf announced Tuesday that he will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the entire 2013 season. Dr. Lewis Yocum will operate on him Oct. 30 in Los Angeles. “I won't be able to pitch until 2014, and yes, I will pitch in 2014,” Wolf wrote in an email.

Machado lifts Orioles in 14th inning
Manny Machado singled in the winning run in the 14th inning, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 Thursday to complete a three-game sweep and remain atop the AL East.

| At age 35 and with a history of arm troubles, Randy Wolf finally hit a wall last year. He continued to pitch six innings just about every time out, but at no point did his ERA drop below 5.00. The Brewers finally washed their hands of him in August, but he wasn't any better in a swing role with the Orioles, putting together a 5.28 ERA over two starts and three relief appearances. His season ended, fittingly, with an injury -- a torn elbow ligament that required Tommy John surgery. Whether or not it contributed to his struggles is almost a moot point, given his age. He's likely out for all of 2013, and the chances of him making a worthwhile Fantasy contribution again are slim. (Updated 1/9/13) |
