Preseason Outlook

Towles awarded homer after replay: Houston's J.R. Towles has been awarded a home run after umpires checked a video replay following his second-inning drive off Philadelphia's Pedro Martinez. Towles' shot to left-center Wednesday night was initially ruled a double. Astros interim manager Dave Clark quickly came out to question the call and the umpires went to the video. It didn't take long for them to change it to a home run. The ball bounced off the flower bed behind the railing and back onto the field. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel didn't argue. Towles, a career .187 hitter, finished with two homers against Philadelphia Wednesday. He has two on the season.
